The year 2020 will live long in the memory, with everything centered around the global coronavirus pandemic. These unprecedented times introduced us to words such as, self-isolation and social-distancing, conditions that forced the Essex Grassroots Leagues to cancel all remaining fixtures.
Training was also postponed following government guidance to stop all group activities in an effort to reduce the spread of the covid-19 virus. Sadly, football at Globall, like elsewhere around the world, had to stop until further notice. The priority was to stay safe and healthy.
While it was disappointing to end the season in such a fashion, there were still positives to take from season 19/20. There were league debuts for the under-13 age group (Panthers), a new under-12 (Tigers) and the under-8s (Lion Cubs).
The Tigers deserve a special mention, qualifying for both of the Essex Youth Cup Finals they competed in. Unfortunately, they won’t have the pleasure of playing the finals.
We can't wait to get back to the football pitch but, will only do so when the government permits it. We'll also need to comply with the new regulations which will inevitably accompany any return. Again, it's about doing our best to ensure everyone's safety during uncertain times.
Rest assured though, we will return when youth grassroots football gets the go-ahead, as determined as ever. Globall teaches our players it takes many years of hard work, dedication and patience to achieve big things - it's a long journey!
Looking for the next step in your child's football journey? As long as they enjoy working hard and learning, they'll love Globall. Get in touch for the chance to join us when training resumes.
